As a young man growing up in Paris, France, Stephane Andre was focused on a career in chemistry until his path took a drastic turn. Upon visiting his uncle, a hairdresser in a suburb of Paris, Stephane discovered a passion for bringing out the beauty in every woman. Thirty years later, Stephane still has a passion for hair and the beauty industry.
Stephane began as an apprentice early in his career and continued studying at Maniatis and Dessange, both located in Paris. Working alongside prominent names like Michel Aleman, Odile Gilbert, Serge Normant, and Frederic Fekkai, Stephane quickly earned his rank amongst the who’s who of the industry. During his time at Dessange, Stephane attended a class given by Bruno Pittini, one of the most influential stylists of our time. Pittini told Stephane that New York was the place to be in order to elevate his career. Stephane was determined to expand his knowledge of styling even further, and soon relocated to New York in 1989.
Stephane continued to study with Pittini at Bruno Dessange Salon until he was invited to join the Fekkai team in 1997, just as the Fifth Avenue Salon was opening. With his innate ability to create a natural look with an edge, and to bring out each woman’s inner beauty, Stephane was a perfect match for the Fekkai vision. In 2008, Stephane was named Creative Director of the Frederic Fekkai Fifth Avenue Salon, located in the famed Henri Bendel department store. Stephane has worked with a number of celebrity clients that has included Martha Stewart, Sigourney Weaver, Uma Thurman and Angelica Huston. In addition, he trains the Fekkai staff in the latest cutting and styling techniques.
Stephane actively seeks out new inspiration daily in order to keep himself on the pulse of the fashion and beauty industry. His passion and talent make him a valued leader of the Fekkai team.
