How to Condition Your Hair, According to Frédéric Fekkai

If you want to reach full hair health, conditioning your hair is a must. It acts as a replenishment source for your hair after shampoo cleanses and washes away any product build-up.

There is a science to how to conditioner your hair correctly and as you may have guessed after our Shampooing 101 video, our founder Frédéric has a groundbreaking technique for this important routine step. Read on for the tips that have made him one of the best in the world. Your second FEKKAI Beauty School class starts now...

STEP 1: IF YOUR HAIR IS NOT ALREADY WET POST-SHAMPOO, WET IT WITH WARM WATER.

STEP 2: APPLY THE CONDITIONER JUST BELOW YOUR ROOTS.

"It's very important to hold the hair if you have long hair—almost like a tailand apply the conditioner directly to your hair, avoiding the scalp," Frédéric advises on how to condition your hair properly.

Tip: A lightweight conditioner like our Brilliant Gloss Conditioner will help detangle and hydrate.

Then comb through adding a bit of water to ensure the conditioner is sliding through your hair. Comb from roots-to ends-to avoid damage.

STEP 3: LET YOUR CONDITIONER SOAK IN.

Tip: longer hair is usually drier and needs extra care.

STEP FOUR: RINSE YOUR HAIR WITH COLD WATER.

"You add a cold rinse at the end to make sure you get rid of all the residue of the conditioner, " Frédéric instructs. "The cold water will seal the hair shaft and make your hair so shiny."
