5 Ways to Make Your Hair Healthier for the Holidays
Grabbing a few minutes for yourself during the holiday season can feel…well, completely impossible. And if there's one time of year when your hair needs a little extra pampering, it's that stretch of November and December that's filled with special gatherings and Zoom events. That's when many of us start craving updos, soft curling-iron-created waves, and other hairstyles that somehow feel just a little more done up—but also cause wear and tear on strands.  

To help, we're zeroing in on the easiest, fastest ways you can nurture yourself—and your hair—throughout the season. Here, a few little strategies, switches, and moves that will keep your hair strong and gorgeous through the New Year.

1.   Give Yourself a Scalp Massage

We're big supporters of scalp massages both as a moment of relaxation and a hair-stimulating exercise. Here's how to do it: In the shower, gently press your fingers in circular motions into your head, starting on either side of the crown. Then move up and down to reach your whole scalp. 2. Try an Overnight Treatment

Sure, a mask in the shower will help hide some of your hair sins, but when you've been over-styling, it's time to take things up a notch. 4.    Style Without Heat

Firing up the curling iron for every special occasion can be tempting, but you might want to rethink that strategy. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), heat-styling can weaken the hair by drying and causing wear and tear on your cuticles. So embracing your natural texture whenever possible can have a positive impact on your hair for the holidays and beyond. 

If you insist on reach for the tools (and you know some of you will), consider using the lowest heat setting on your blow-dryer.
